Document Editing
Mar 19 2008, 5:22 PM EDT | Post edited: Mar 19 2008, 5:22 PM EDT
I'm attaching the course syllabus as a word document to this page. I am curious to see how collaborative document editing works. I was hoping to have a nice complete, formatted Syllabus for the course that could just be in one convenient document. So far, I have added Weeks 1 & 2 discovery exercises and resources, and left week 3 blank until it becomes available. I was hoping to encourage group participation and we could see how this works and find out the benefits or hurdles of collaborative efforts. So, open the "Syllabus.doc" attachment on this page and edit it, manipulate it, change it, work it, make it look pretty, and let's see what happens...Of course, I don't want to distract from the course objectives, so will the course instructors please indicate if this is an appropriate activity for the course?

Thanks,

Bryan

Thanks, Bryan, for creating this opportunity. I was curious about the editing feature myself. It was easy to edit your text. Wikis are great for collaboration. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I wanted to see how document collaboration works so I just put a comment on the first page of the syllabus and made the image smaller. But once I made edits, I had to save it locally and then upload it again. I guess this way it retains all versions of the documents as it is revised. Do you find this valuable?

I wonder if there are any wikis that allow for "live document editing" without having to save it locally and then re-uploading? Has anyone seen anything like this?

I took the liberty of adding the Week 3 content since I am at home and do not have to fool with my workplace filters. Thanks, Bryan, for doing this and hopefully, we will have a document that "documents' our 2.0 quest!!

Thanks, Gently. My only regret is not saving it under a somewhat more recognizable name - that's what you get when you are caught up in the moment of a personal technological breakthrough!! Perhaps the next contributer can put us back on the right track...
