I am very late with this assignment due to a vacation and illness, but I hope to finish the entire course by May 18th. I have learned a great deal of usefull information so far. I had always wanted to have a blog, but did not know how to go about setting one up. Ditto for a wiki. This course is really fabulous, and I hope that I can finish it on time.

I made the wiki and the blog but never connected them. I filled out everything and thought I was done. It wasn't until this week I noticed my error. I wonder what else I missed? Jenny

Getting back to completing what I started! I have set up my blog and wiki and have posted the links. The blog is a trial at doing an online newsletter for the library. It is called News to Users and the site is newstousers.wordpress.com. I have already experimented with work wikis at pbwiki so this time I tried a social one. It is for my book club that meets at a local bookstore once a month and I dubbed it Table for Five. The site is tableforfive.wetpaint.com. My past experience with wikis has been they are only as good as the intent of the members to participate! But they can be a valuable tool.

Since this is the fun page I thought I would contribute something a bit off focus. I stumbled across a medical students blog where he posted several online games that help with practicing/learning surgery virtually. Take a look.
* Simulated Open Heart Surgery: Be a Surgeon! http://scienceroll.com/2007/10/22/simulated-open-heart-surgery-be-a-surgeon/ * D.N.A. Here is the link the the AV Troubleshooters wiki http://avtroubleshooters.wetpaint.com/ Our library staff spends a lot of time with audiovisual services; our equipment inventory is in the thousands, our details are endless. We have a library staff only website that we use to post information and tips but it is worth exploring the "in the moment" nature of a wiki. I don't know what others will see as I made the Wiki private. The link to my blog, modest, modest, modest is http://gumshoelibrarian.blogspot.com The key is to give it a try and go back to it periodically to experiment. Practice.

Unfortunately no fix right as of yet. I think it may be happening with this specific wiki and not the rest of the wikis because I haven't heard from others where this is happening on their personal wikis. It seems to be a bug within the class wiki.

The following information should be gained during the reference interview:
1. clear definition of the question 2. motivation and objectives of the user 3. what the user already knows about the subject; his ability to suggest synonyms or other terms for the subject he is seeking information on 4. what the user needs to know about the subject; how to narrow the question if a great deal of information is available; how to broaden the scope if little information is available 5. sources already consulted by the user, if any 6. amount and level of material needed 7. when the information is needed 8. time period to be covered 9. languages acceptable to the user 10. form in which the answer is expected 11. status of the user

Hi, everyone,
My blog, GAbfest, is designed to be a gathering place for the OU-Tulsa Library's graduate assistants, the GA supervisor (me) and the GA's mentors. Here's the link: http://gabfest.wetpaint.com/. It's pretty bare at the moment, but I will soon complete the GA training manual that only now has the TOC posted. It will also be a place for our GAs to display the projects they've been assigned.
My blog is The Happy-Go-Lucky Librarian, where I've posted and explaination of one fo the major issues with which our library struggles. IT can be found at this site: http://thehappy-go-luckylibrarian.blogspot.com/. To date, that's all that's there, but I hope to expand it so it will be a helpful tool for our staff.
Hope you're all enjoying the class as much as I am!
