Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Classroom

Please use the MLA Web 2.0 101 class blog for the current week's lessons and instructions. While this wiki has a Discussion Forum option, we will NOT being using it. But please feel free to change and update this wiki to familiarize yourself with wikis.

Now there is a subgroup of classmates in Facebook. You must set up an account (see Week 3!) to join. The class instructors will still be using the class blog as the main communication link though.

Week 2 Wiki Notes:
Welcome to the MLA Web 2.0 101 class wiki! March, 17 2008!

If you've ever wondered if the version of a shared document you have is the most recent, you will appreciate a wiki. A wiki allows a document to be stored and edited online, and it saves all previous editions. Collaborate instantly without worrying about emailing revisions to everyone in your project group.

Comments from users about their blogs and wikis (posted during week 2)

This is interesting. I got a late start but it does seem to be pretty easy.

This is fun! So many possibilities. My first wiki attempt is a personal page: Quilting Wiki. It's just the skeleton... Jane

Here is a blog link that is my first effort. Patton Staff Library News I have tried to put together information that will be helpful for our staff.

Like the fellow above, my blog is a first effort; http://hamiltonclan.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats .... altho my blog is pretty darn empty right now!!! Been gone for 2 weeks and playing catchup on this class. --- Pat

I have added the following blog/wiki, as both are called the same, to this classroom page. I am not sure if that is how we are to do it. This page looks a lot different than other wikis I have visited. Thank you for your patience as I explore this avenue. The blog/wiki I am referring to is Phoenix Rising Librarian. You can go to this wiki and offer me suggestions as to how to do this better. Thanks.

I am very late with this assignment due to a vacation and illness, but I hope to finish the entire course by May 18th. I have learned a great deal of usefull information so far. I had always wanted to have a blog, but did not know how to go about setting one up. Ditto for a wiki. This course is really fabulous, and I hope that I can finish it on time.

Getting back to completing what I started! I have set up my blog and wiki and have posted the links. The blog is a trial at doing an online newsletter for the library. It is called News to Users and the site is newstousers.wordpress.com. I have already experimented with work wikis at pbwiki so this time I tried a social one. It is for my book club that meets at a local bookstore once a month and I dubbed it Table for Five. The site is tableforfive.wetpaint.com. My past experience with wikis has been they are only as good as the intent of the members to participate! But they can be a valuable tool.
